The former chairman of the board overseeing the development of the new children's hospital has said he resigned over fundamental differences between himself and the Health Minister.

In a statement, Philip Lynch said he stepped down because of a number of issues, including the substantial funding gap for the project as well as planning and design challenges for the site at the Mater Hospital in Dublin.
