Carers to call for allowance to be maintained
Carers will today call on the Government not to cut their allowance in December's Budget.
Representatives are meeting with various ministers in advance of Budget 2011.
They are expected to emphasis that they are the only group in Ireland who work for their social welfare payments.
Their allowance has already been reduced by 5%.
Full time carers provide an average of 110 hours of care per week.
