Newspaper report on migrant workers criticised
The Migrant Rights Centre has expressed deep concern over a newspaper report claiming that there has been a surge in the number of non-EU workers employed here.
According to today's Irish Independent, thousands of non-EU workers are coming to Ireland to fill low paid vacancies, while dole queues continue to grow.
However, the Migrant Rights Centre today said the number of work permits issued to non-EU citizens has, in fact, fallen by 300% over the past two years.
It described the Irish Independent report as selective, sensational and irresponsible.
