Coastguard recovers two bodies off Inishbofin

An investigation is underway following a boating tragedy that claimed the lives of two men off the Co Galway coast this morning.
The men that died were in their late 50s and early 60s.
At 10.40am this morning a local person came across the body of a man found washed ashore at beach at Inishbofin.
Emergency services were notified immediately and a short time later they found the body of a second man. He was trapped under a dingy attached to a 40-foot motor cruiser.
The details of this incident are not clear. No distress calls had been made and both men were wearing life jackets.
The Clifden RNLI, Malin Head Coastguard and gardaí attended the scene.
The autopsies are being carried out at University Hospital Galway.
