Bethany House records available, says Church of Ireland
The Church of Ireland said today that all records it has relating to the Bethany Home in Rathgar are available.
It comes after survivors of the Dublin home claimed that the Church of Ireland was more involved than it has previously said.
The survivors' group received a letter from the Department of Justice which appears to cast doubt on the church's claim the home was completely independent of it.
However the Church of Ireland says the letter, dated April 1945, confirms that the Bethany Home was already subject to Government inspection, was recognised as a place of detention, and that arrangements involving the home were already in place.
