The Green Party has begun efforts to arrange a cross-party forum to get widespread agreement on the government's four-year budget plan.

The Environment Minister John Gormley said yesterday that the idea of a national government should be considered to get the country through the current crisis. He said that the crisis in the public finances is so grave, that party politics had to be set aside.
