Youth charged with forcibly taking army vehicle
An 18-year-old youth was charged at the Children's Court today with attacking two gardaí and theft by force of an army vehicle.
The defendant, Thomas Doran, of Coldcut Cresent, Clondalkin, in Dublin, made “no reply” when he was charged with assaulting two gardaí, seizing by force a Ford Green Transit army vehicle and motor theft, at Military Road, in Tallaght, in Dublin, on April 17 last.
Judge Bryan Smyth noted that the teenager was aged 17 at the time of the alleged offences but has since turned 18 years of age and is now an adult.
The judge heard that the DPP had directed that the case should be sent forward “for trial on indictment” in the Circuit Court.
Judge Smyth remanded the youth on bail to appear again next week and granted legal aid to the teenager. The youth was ordered to sign on twice weekly at Clondalkin Garda station.
