Chartered surveyors: Property tax would be 'beneficial'

There are calls from the Society of Chartered Surveyors for the introduction of a property tax.

The call comes after the Minister for Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs Pat Carey indicated it is a possibility.

New figures from the SCS show construction tender prices are at their lowest levels since 1998.

Spokesperson Michéal O'Connor said bring in a property tax would be "beneficial".
