Gardaí launch Limerick murder inquiry

A murder inquiry has been officially launched in Limerick.

It's after a post mortem this afternoon on the body of Joe O’Donnell, which revealed the 48-year-old died from injuries he suffered during an assault.

He was attacked at his home on Hyde Road on Friday morning and lost his fight for life in hospital yesterday.

A 22-year-old man, who was arrested in connection with the assault has been released without charge and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
