Maguire challenges Israeli detention

Nobel peace laureate Mairead Corrigan Maguire has asked Israel’s Supreme Court to allow her to enter the country, five days after she was placed in an airport detention centre upon arriving with a human rights delegation.

Ms Maguire’s legal challenge has set the stage for a new showdown with Israel. The Irish activist has emerged as an outspoken critic of Israel in recent years.
