A man has been rescued after falling from a cliff in Howth, north Co Dublin.

A man has been rescued after falling from a cliff in Howth, north Co Dublin.

The alarm was raised at about 5.30pm this evening, after the man failed to return from a walk.

The Howth Coastguard and helicopter were involved in the search.

The teams carried out a 'rope rescue' near the Bailey Lighthouse, and the man was winched to safety.

He was brought to Tallaght hospital where his condition is described as critical.
