Donegal North East Deputy Dr Jim McDaid has said there should be a General Election this month.

The former government minister, who lost the party whip last year, voted against a Fianna Fáil motion for three by-elections on Wednesday.

Speaking to Highland Radio, he said: "The public don't want by-elections but a General Election."
