Longford housefire seriously injures girl

A 12-year-old girl has been seriously injured in a housefire in Longford.

It is understood she was trapped inside the house when the blaze broke out at Padraig Colum Heights in Longford town between 11.30pm and midnight last night.

A Garda investigation is underway into how the fire started.

The young girl was taken to Mullingar Hospital for treatment, but was transferred to Crumlin Children's Hospital overnight.
