Toddler dies after road accident

A 22-month-old boy has died at Temple Street Children's Hospital in Dublin today following a traffic accident in Moate, Co Westmeath on Saturday last.

The child was struck by a car in the Coillin Buí estate in the town at around 1.45pm on Saturday afternoon.

He was taken to Mullingar General Hospital before being transferred to Temple Street Hospital.

Gardaí are investigating the incident.
