Another Labour Party TD looks set to call time on politics as Dublin South Central Deputy Mary Upton is expected to make a formal announcement this evening.

Party colleagues are said to be stunned at her decision to quit politics which comes just weeks after Labour's Wicklow representative Liz McManus announced she was stepping down at the next election.

Deputy Upton was first elected to the Dáil in October 1999 following the death of her brother Pat.
