Lenihan welcomes EU flood funding
Ireland has been granted €13m in European funding following last winter's flooding.
The European Commission approved the application for aid from the Solidarity Fund, which will be used to recoup some of the money spent by the State on the flood response.
The Department of Finance made the application in January based on estimates of damage received from Departments and local authorities.
Finance Minister Brian Lenihan said that while the funding was "modest compared to the overall costs of the flooding" the contribution from the EU was very welcome.
