Woman charged with manslaughter of Lilian Scanlon

A 54-year-old woman has been charged with the manslaughter of a woman in Athlone over two years ago.

Mother of three Lilian Scanlon, who was originally from Clara in Co. Offaly, was found dead at her home in the town of Valley Court in May 2008.

Agnes McCarthy of 19 Castle Main Street, Athlone appeared before Athlone District Court charged with the manslaughter of the 48-year-old.

The Judge granted the accused permission to reside at her own home in Athlone and sign on daily at Athone Garda Station until the 13th of October when she is due back in court.
