Clergy to discuss plan for priests' association

Catholic clergy will gather in Co Laois today to discuss plans to set up an association of Irish priests.

It follows an informal gathering of priests recently from dioceses, religious orders, congregations and missionary societies.

The priests say there is a need for a "coherent voice" because of the increasingly strained relationship between them and their bishops.
