Allen: Signs are 'ominous' for FAS

The Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee Bernard Allen is describing as "ominous" the fact that the Government hasn't applied for EU funds for FAS in almost ten months.

The Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee Bernard Allen is describing as "ominous" the fact that the Government hasn't applied for EU funds for FAS in almost ten months.

Last year, the EU carried out an audit on the State training agency.

The European Commission said there were a number of issues to be resolved before any more money was applied for or paid out.

It is understood the problem relates to training courses carried out by private operators.

Bernard Allen has said it is "a very worrying development" and questions need to be answered.
