SPAR to close Donegal outlet, 21 jobs to go

Wholesaler BWG foods, operator of the SPAR franchise, has announced it is to close its Ballyshannon, Co Donegal plant from October 1 with the loss of 21 jobs.

The company said that following a strategic review it has decided to transfer distribution activity to Dublin.

Donegal Sinn Féin Senator Pearse Doherty described the news as “yet another devastating blow to the workers and to Ballyshannon”.
