Body found in search for missing girl
A body believed to be that of a missing 12-year-old girl was found in Dublin tonight.
The child’s disappearance had been reported to gardaà early this morning, triggering a day-long search.
It is understood the body was discovered in undergrowth on the banks of Dublin’s Grand Canal by a member of the public at around 4pm.
A Garda spokesman confirmed that a body had been recovered, but said no further details would be given at this stage.
The body remains at the scene and a technical examination of the area is being carried out by the Garda Technical Bureau.
The State Pathologist Dr. Marie Cassidy is also at the scene.
