'Pain, shock, horror' at news of Kerry crash deaths: Priest at funeral Mass

Hundreds of mourners have attended the funeral Mass of the two brothers who died in last Wednesday's crash in Kerry, which claimed four lives.

President Mary McAleese was among those who sent messages of condolence to the Breen family.

The two brothers - 17-year-old David and 15-year-old Kevin - will be buried this afternoon in Holy Cross cemetery in Kilcummin.

The funeral Mass of 19-year-old Brian Coffey is underway in Fossa outside Killarney. He will be buried in Aghadoe cemetery.

The three boys and a fourth teenager, Áine Riordan, died when the car they were travelling in hit a tree on the Mallow to Killarney road.

Celebrant Fr Gerard O'Leary spoke of the "pain and the shock and the horror" felt by the bereaved families.

He said the community also felt a great sense of loss and shock and added. "Deep inside we all knew that it could be my story, my son or daughter, my brother or sister, my friend or relative."
