HSE meet patients' groups over recall of hip implants
The HSE has met with representatives of patient groups this evening in the wake of a mass recall of a faulty device used in hip replacements in Ireland.
Up to 3,500 Irish patients received the faulty hip replacement system since it became available six years ago.
They are now to undergo assessments.
This evening's meeting aimed to develop a co-ordinated approach to the product recall and the review of patients - 12 of whom have presented with problems to date.
Hospitals will be contacting all affected patients directly to ensure they receive appropriate follow-up care.
