Controlled explosion carried out on Limerick device

A controlled explosion has been carried out on a suspect device found at a Limerick housing estate.

A number of homes were evacuated in the Cliona Park area of Moyross when the suspicious object was discovered this afternoon.

The object was moved to a nearby playing field by army bomb disposal crews who carried out the controlled blast.

It will now be examined by a forensic team.
