Pakistani ambassador in further floods appeal
The Pakistani Ambassador to Ireland is appealing for further and urgent international help for the victims of the country's flooding.
Naghmana Hashmi - who appeared before the Oireachtas Foreign Affairs Committee today - said up to $15bn (€11.8bn) will be needed to aid the recovery effort.
More than 20 million people are now affected by the flood waters, which have submerged around one-fifth of the country and killed at least 1,600 people.
Ambassador Hashmi said there are serious problems over food supplies, lack of clean water, shelter and the threat of disease.
