Two men have been killed and three other people injured in a road crash in Co Kildare.

The two-car collision happened in Ballinakill yesterday evening.

A one-year-old boy was among the injured.

The two men aged in their 40's and 50's were killed when their car crashed into another at Lally's Cross on the Longwood to Moyvalley road in Ballinakill at around 8.15pm last night.

They were pronounced dead at the scene.

The occupants of the second car, a man, woman and a one-year-old boy were injured.

They were taken to the Adelaide and Meath Hospital in Tallaght and their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The road is closed this morning for a full technical examination and diversions are in place.
