Mayo: Search operation underway after shotgun blast report

A major search operation is underway at an unofficial halting site in Ballyhaunis in Co Mayo.

Swinford Gardaí, the Air Support Unit and Regional Support team are involved in the ongoing operation.

Gardaí say they are also investigating reports that a man was slightly injured when a shotgun was discharged close to the site yesterday.

The link road between the Claremorris Road and the Knock Road will remain closed for the duration of the operation.

Gardaí are advising motorists that diversions are in place.
