Minister for Defence Tony Kileen has paid tribute to the Defence Forces for their hard work during the winter flooding.

It comes as the Defence Forces publishes its annual report for 2009.

Minister Killeen says that the unusual events at home and abroad allowed the forces to show their full range of skills.

In 2009, almost 1,900 members of the Defence Forces served overseas in Chad, Kosovo and Bosnia- Herzegovina.

The Minister has also paid tribute to two members of the air corps who died when their plane crashed in October 2009.
