Gardaí are continuing their investigation into the shooting dead of a man in North Dublin last night.

The gangland-style killing took place shortly before 7pm yesterday evening in Finglas.

The 25-year-old victim was shot at close range by a lone gunman while he visited a home at the junction of Barnamore Crescent and St Helena's Road in Finglas last night.

He was shot a number of times before being taken to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown where he was pronounced dead a short while later.

The deceased is said to have been known to Gardaí in the area.

A technical examination of the scene is still taking place and Gardaí are appealing for anyone with any information to contact them at Finglas Garda Station on 01 666 7500
