The State Pathologist is due to carry out a post mortem exam today on the body of a 60-year-old man who died following a serious assault in Sligo.

The State Pathologist is due to carry out a post mortem exam today on the body of a 60-year-old man who died following a serious assault in Sligo.

The man was attacked and left critically injured in the Carton Point area last Thursday morning.

He was brought to Sligo General Hospital where he died from his injuries yesterday afternoon.

A 29-year-old man who was arrested on Saturday night in connection with the attack continues to be questioned at Manorhamilton Garda station.
