Men due in court in connection with Kildare robbery

Two men are due to appear before Dublin District Court this morning in connection with an armed robbery at a jewellery store in Co Kildare.

Two men entered Celbridge Jewellers on the main street of the town last Friday afternoon armed with what is believed to be a gun and a crowbar.

They threatened staff with the firearm before making off with a sum of cash.

Shortly afterwards two men were stopped and searched by gardaí on patrol in the area.

They recovered an imitation gun, a balaclava and a sum of cash and arrested the men who were brought to Leixlip Garda station for questioning.

The two were charged at the station last night and are due before Dublin District Court in connection with the robbery later this morning.
