Five still in custody in connection with dissidents probe

Gardaí in Co. Louth are continuing to question five men who were arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into the activities of dissident republicans.

Detectives arrested two men in Dundalk yesterday after they stopped and searched a car and discovered a firearm and balaclava.

Another three men were arrested when gardaí stopped and searched a car in Ardee and discovered ammunition and a balaclava.

The five are being questioned in Dundalk, Drogheda and Balbriggan garda stations.
