Victim of Sligo attack dies

Gardaí have confirmed that a 60 year-old man who was the victim of a serious assault in Sligo during the week has died in hospital.

The man had been fighting for his life in Sligo General Hospital since Thursday morning - when he was attacked in the Carton Point area.

A 29 year-old man who was arrested last night in connection with the incident continues to be held at Manorhamilton Garda station.

A 28 year-old man who was arrested on Friday evening for questioning has been released and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
