Carey: FF will not block laws to limit corporate donations
Minister for Rural Affairs Pat Carey has said there will no deliberate attempt by Fianna Fáil to frustrate the passing of legislation to tackle corporate donations.
He was responding to claims by the Green TD Paul Gogarty who said his party would gladly "go to the country" if the legislation is not brought forward.
Some Fianna Fail backbenchers are opposed to the legislation which is expected to restrict the size of donations, and prevent parties from being funded by business interests.
But speaking in Glenties, at the MacGill Summer School, Minister Carey said there would be no deliberate attempt by Fianna Fáil to slow the passage of the legislation through the Dáil.
