Bin collector strike delayed
A strike by bin collectors in the Dun Laoighaire-Rathdown area of Dublin has been deferred following talks at the Labour Relations Commission.
SIPTU had threatened to implement the industrial action from Thursday following a decision by the local authority to outsource bin collection services to a private company.
However, the union tonight said it would defer the action after Dun Laoighaire-Rathdown Council agreed to defer signing contracts with the private waste collector.
Both sides will now enter into discussions to resolve the dispute.
