Man arrested in connection with Clare hit-and-run

A 74-year-old man has been arrested in Co Clare in connection with a hit-and-run incident this morning which left a man in a serious condition in hospital.

The 42-year-old man was standing on the Ennis to Kilrush Road at around 10am speaking to another person when he was struck by a campervan which failed to stop.

The campervan was later intercepted by gardaí near Ennis and a man was arrested.

The injured man is said to be in a serious but stable condition.
