Unions warn against outsourcing St Luke's jobs

It has been reported that management at St James' Hospital has proposed outsourcing to a private firm jobs held by St Luke's Cancer Hospital staff.

Staff and services are to be transferred soon from St Luke's to St James'.

Unions claim that any move to outsource the jobs currently held by St Luke's staff would be in breach of the Croke Park Agreement, under which public sector jobs should remain secure.

Sinn Féin Councillor Sean Crowe said that any outsourcing of jobs at St Luke's would impact badly on both staff and patients, who were concerned about continuity of care.
