New Zealand man set for court in connection with Irish-backpacker attack
A New Zealand native is to appear in court in Sydney today to face a charge of causing grievous bodily harm to an Irish backpacker in 2008.
David Keohane was discovered lying on the ground on a street corner in the suburb of Coogee in the early hours of August 9, 2008.
Twenty-one-year-old Kane Desmond Tupuolamou was arrested yesterday.
He appeared before Darwin Magistrates Court and will be formally charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent to murder in Sydney today.
Another man - Thomas Isakoo - has already been sentenced to serve at least 14 years in jail for the attack.
