All roads lead to Oxegen
Excitement is building ahead of Oxegen 2010 at Punchestown, in Naas Co Kildare.
The three-day festival finally kicks off this afternoon with acts like Arcade Fire, Jay Z and Vampire Weekend.
Gardaí are urging people to use the park and ride facility at Goffs on the N7 and if you are parking at the site itself, allow yourself around three hours' extra travelling time as traffic will be very heavy.
Superintendent John Gilligan of the Garda Press Office said officers will be out in force on the roads.
"Our traffic corps will be in the immediate area of Naas and the surrounding areas in relation to road traffic policing," Supt Gilligan said.
"Luckily in over the past number of years we haven't had serious injuries on the roads but we will have checkpoints in place."
