A man in his sixties has been held overnight by gardaí investigating a fatal shooting in County Wicklow.

Walter Tomkins, 66, was shot dead at 6.30pm on Thursday evening at the isolated farmhouse where he lived just outside Shillelagh.

It is believed his death may have been the result of a dispute.

A man was arrested following the shooting and is being questioned at Baltinglass Garda Station.

Gardaí are following a definite line of inquiry and are not understood to be looking for anyone else.
