Punters land €200,000 in 'astonishing gamble'
An "astonishing gamble" has landed a group of punters €200,000.
The masterminds behind the plan deployed a massive team of between 150 and 200 people to lay simultaneous bets at 100 bookies in Kildare and Dublin on Monday evening.
The group all placed small stakes of €200 each on 'D Four Dave', who went on to win 7pm race in Kilbeggan.
Managing Director of recruitment firm MCR Douglas Taylor, who is also the joint owner of the horse at the centre of the plan, is understood to have reaped a share of the rewards.
Deputy Editor of the Irish Field Mark Costello said the group placed the best five minutes before the race, a strategy that was crucial to their success.
