Banking report authors to report to Oireachtas committee today

The findings of the recent banking reports, which criticised the Government, will come under scrutiny again today.

The authors of one of the reports will appear before the Oireachtas Finance Committee later.

International experts Klaus Regling and Max Watson will discuss their document and set out how the banking inquiry should now proceed.

Opposition parties want the Taoiseach Brian Cowen to be questioned by the investigation. At the moment, its terms of reference does not include an examination of past Government policy decisions.
