Man arrested in connection with Cork pub shooting
Gardaí investigating an incident which saw a man shot by gardaí in a pub in Cork last month have arrested a man.
The incident happened at Mo Chuisle bar on Blarney Street in Cork city on May 21.
Gardai responded to reports that a man had entered the pub, armed with a shotgun.
When he was confronted, he failed to drop the weapon, and was shot in the stomach by the Garda Regional Support Unit.
The injured man was transferred to Cork University Hospital, where he underwent surgery.
This afternoon, gardaí investigating the alleged unlawful possession of a firearm during the incident arrested a 29-year-old man.
He is being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, and can be detained for seven days.
Meanwhile, a separate investigation into the shooting was launched by the Garda Ombudsman Commission.
