Irish gangland boss appears in Spanish court

Three Dublin men who were arrested by police in Spain during the week, appeared before a Spanish court last night.

Irish gangland boss Christy Kinahan and his sons Daniel and Christopher Junior are suspected of drug smuggling and money laundering.

It is expected Christy, Daniel and Christopher Kinahan junior will be taken to jail near Malaga to await trial, but that will not be confirmed by authorities until later today.

The three, along with another Irishman, 58-year-old John Cunningham, were among 34 people arrested in Spain, the UK and Ireland last Tuesday as part of an international investigation into a Spanish- based, Irish-led drug trafficking gang.

Cunningham was released on bail late last night.

Under Spanish law, suspects can be held for up to two years without formal charges being brought.
