Ahern and Patterson to hold security summit

The Justice Minister and the Northern Secretary are to hold a security summit on how to crack down on terrorist violence.

Plans were drawn up at a meeting between Dermot Ahern and Owen Patterson last night.

The Garda Commissioner and PSNI Chief Constable are also expected to attend the talks when they take place in the next 10 days.

An upsurge in activity amongst dissident republican groups will top the agenda.
