Housing groups claim 70,000 face mortgage arrears

Housing campaigners tonight warned the scale of mortgage arrears and risk of repossession was twice as bad as official figures suggest.

The Central Bank said more than 32,000 mortgage holders are missing payments with about two-thirds of them unable to cover costs for more than six months.
