Bord Gais to explain security measures after laptops theft
The measures taken by Bord Gais to improve security after the theft of four laptops last year will be discussed by An Oireachtas Committee meeting this morning.
The company's CEO John Mullins will appear before the Committee on Communications, Energy and Natural Resources.
Four laptops were stolen from Bord Gais offices in central Dublin on June 5 last year.
They contained details of almost 94,000 customers, including their account numbers and home addresses.
Bord Gais contacted all the customers affected by the security breach - they were mainly people who had applied to switch their electricity accounts to the gas firm.
Mr Mullins will appear before the Oireachtas Committee this morning to explain how the company has improved security, including its defence against theft and data robbery.
