Man gets 14 years for attack on Cork man in Australia

An Australian man has been jailed for a horrific attack on a Cork man in Sydney two years ago.

David Keohane was on his way home from a night out in the suburb of Coogee when he was set upon by Thomas Isaako and another man in the early hours of August 9, 2008.

He was punched in the head about 14 times, suffering multiple head and facial injuries, which the sentencing judge described today as "more serious than almost any case of robbery".

As a result of the attack, David Keohane spent 218 days in a coma and now needs 24 hour supervision.

21-year-old Thomas Isaako, from Bankstown in Sydney is now facing at least 14 years in prison for inflicting grievous bodily harm and robbery.
