Teenager killed, two others critically hurt in overnight accidents
A teenager has been killed in a car crash in Meath, while a pedestrian is critically ill in hospital after he was hit by a car in Stillorgan, south Dublin.
In a third accident, a cyclist is in a critical condition after being hit by a vehicle in Waterford.
In the Meath tragedy, a 17-year-old boy died after the car in which he was a passenger hit a ditch at Ballyhack, Kilbrew, close to Ashbourne in Co Meath. The driver and a second passenger, also teenage boys, were uninjured.
The road is closed for a forensic examination and local diversions are in place.
Meanwhile in Dublin, a male pedestrian was hit by a car on the Stillorgan dual carriageway at around 3.40am today.
He was taken to St Vincent's hospital where he is critically ill. The accident happened on the N11 northbound between the Stillorgan Park Hotel and Oatlands School.
In Waterford, a male cyclist is in a critical condition after he was hit by a vehicle last night in the city, on Thomas Street.
He is being treated in Waterford Regional Hospital.
