Hottest day of year today

Parts of Ireland look set to enjoy the hottest day of the year so far as the weekend heatwave continues.

Temperatures are predicted to be high today with inland areas reaching 22 to 26 degrees.

However, onshore breezes will keep coastal regions a few degrees cooler.

Met Éireann forecaster Deirdre Lowe said the outlook was good.
